If it's just downloading album art that's causing the problem, why not try Album Art Aggregator? It'll download artwork very quickly from Amazon, and you can just scan down them to review and you're done. You can also choose which country Amazon you want - useful for avoiding US covers (for me!). Last.fm is mostly limited to pop music, I find - restrictive for me.
