Thanks for your swift reply bpa. I tried shutting down ZA (internet security suite) and it made no difference. So I did a full uninstall using the /clean option, rebooted the pc and AlienBBC worked immediately! :)
I've been going off ZA over the last few months because this isn't the only problem it's caused me. I think I'm off to Kaspersky.
