The latter portion of what you've described sounds pretty much like what I'm hoping to achieve. I've just begun retagging the Artist fields to reflect each artist who performs on an individual track. I don't, however, want albums to wind up under Compilations (because they're not), nor do I want to see the albums listed under Various Artists. So, it seems that the real key here is proper use of the albumartist tag. Thus, if I have an album by XXX, on which YYY also performs on several songs, I'd make sure that the albumartist tag contains only XXX, while the artist tags for the relevant tracks would read XXX;YYY. If I tag that way, given what you've said, it sounds like that when I browse by Artist, the entire album would show up under XXX, while (simultaneously) the selected tracks on which YYY performed would appear under YYY. A question, though. How do I determine whether SC is reading the albumartist tag. Put differently, how do I configure SC to read the albumartist tag? Many thanks.
