bpa, Great stuff - you cracked it. The problem was that my Windows Live Onecare was blocking socketwrapper.exe. It's weird, because I have Onecare set up to tell me when it blocks something and it never did. Socketwrapper did not even show up on the list of blocked applications. I had to add it manually to Onecare and set it to trusted.
If anyone is looking for it, I found it here C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\socketwrapper.exe Many, many thanks for you patience and help here. This plugin is a real gem and opens up a vast library of online programmes. Now I need to buy another receiver for the bedroom.
