I don't see any plugins at all in the "Extension Downloader" screen.

It's a common helpdesk strategy to tell users to try deleting their cache
folder, isn't it?

Surely it would be a good idea to place plugins in a new folder, separate from
the cache, because they aren't really cache items?

I have set my cache folder to be D:\SqueezeCenter\Cache. If I could set my
third-party plugins folder to be D:\SqueezeCenter\Plugins, I'd be happy. But I
think the plugins folder should by default somewhere outside of Cache.

Also, I guess the min/max version check stuff is still in there? So when
running beta SC versions, I guess I would not get the option to download
plugins if they have set a max version of the last stable release, whereas I
currently download plugins and tweak the install.xml file.

I thought there were quite a few instances of strange UI bugs with the Default
skin that required the cache to be cleared. However, I guess the installer
will uninstall the old version, perhaps delete the cache and then install the
new version?

Maybe it's only a problem for users playing with nightlies, or running from SVN.

On a related matter, I was thinking of running your plugins (and my own) from
their SVN repositories. However, TortoiseSVN doesn't allow checkouts from
other repositories within another checkout folder. If I could move the plugin
folder outside of the SqueezeCenter installation folder, then I could do this.

So a plugindir preference and --plugindir startup parameter would be really
useful.
