Thanks -- I didn't realize that it's a *firmware* limitation that's
behind SqueezeCenter only supporting Slim Devices and JVC DVD codes. I
finally started work on this today. The basic design right now is that
you can map a sequence of CLI commands to any specific JVC DVD button
-- e.g. map "1" to

so that tapping the 1 button will power on & start playing an
assortment of children's music. At this point, because I hate asking
folks to mess with files (especially with SC 7.3's excellent new
web-based extension downloader), it's trapping all IR commands and
hijacking all the JVC commands. There should be a web UI for editing
the "macro" for any JVC button, and I might introduce per-player
variables (e.g., default volume -- "50" in the kitchen is moderate, but
50 in my living room is pretty loud).
Now I need to find a nice sturdy universal remote for my kid -- what I
really want is something like the cheap, simple One For All I had back
before consumer DVD players came to market. :-/
