Installation via the Plugin Installer should always be in the right directory.
I can't provide more specific help regarding BBCiPlayer plugin as I am outside the UK and iPlayer plugin doesn't really work. A general measure would be to enable logging to INFO for BBCiPlayer (see Settings/Advanced/Logging/Plugin/BBCiPlayer).
