With AlienBBC 2.4 (and possibly 2.3) for 7.3 - this has been simplified and there is now a AlienBBC setting "Fast Start" to enable/disable use of "bandwidth".
Try disabling the "fast Start" and see if it makes a difference. This feature will only affect "Listen again" streams.
