I never tried but I think it should. Please check whether ports 9000 and 3483 are open on your PC. You can check that by trying to access <your ip>:9000 in safari on the iPhone. If SqueezeCenter opens, at least port 9000 is open. Also, if you do a " swipe right" on NowPlaying, what do you see? What happens when you select your server there?
