I didn't mean to say you have to change your library.
SC usually does the transcoding, that's what happens when you use the
"stream.mp3" stream.
I don't think the audio quality of the iPhone justifies the extra
effort of using flac vs. e.g. 256kbps mp3 streams.
And effort here means transfer rate, licensing (flac being open source)
and added power consumption (mainly due to transferring more data).

I've heard that there is one that plays flac files but I don't remember
