When you are selecting the song, what icon do you see in the top blue bar, on the RHS, on the left of the penguin icon? This icon is actually a switch, between three behaviours, selected by clicking on the icon: "play" (standard hi-fi play button triangle) -> replace the current playlist with the selection and start playing it.
