It's been nearly two years since I last played around with Michael's SlimNAS...and at that time I never tested any power saving options. It's my impression that FreeNAS is intended to be an "always on" operating system, and as such has few if any tools available for power savings. The FreeNAS knowledgebase articles seem to be very thin on this topic and a google search doesn't turn up much either.
I've never known the BIOS power savings options to work with any OS other than plain 'ol DOS. I think that all "modern" operating system totally trump any settings you may have there and impose their own will in this regard. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about hardware can confirm or deny this. Anyway, I'm afraid I'm not a source of help for FreeNAS issues. I suggest you try posting some queries on the Linux forum in order to get information on whether or not FreeNAS supports suspend and hibernation, and, if it does, how. -- gharris999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
