Truthfully, I don't know.  It's been nearly two years since I last
played around with Michael's SlimNAS...and at that time I never tested
any power saving options.  It's my impression that FreeNAS is intended
to be an "always on" operating system, and as such has few if any tools
available for power savings.  The FreeNAS knowledgebase articles seem to
be very thin on this topic and a google search doesn't turn up much
either.

I've never known the BIOS power savings options to work with any OS
other than plain 'ol DOS.  I think that all "modern" operating system
totally trump any settings you may have there and impose their own will
in this regard.  Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about hardware can
confirm or deny this.

Anyway, I'm afraid I'm not a source of help for FreeNAS issues.  I
suggest you try posting some queries on the Linux forum in order to get
information on whether or not FreeNAS supports suspend and hibernation,
and, if it does, how.
