I agree this would be a cool feature. However, I believe it's a server enhancement or plugin.
As Dingostrategy pointed out, the information is in the stream and the server extracts it from there while playing (it can take up to a minute or so for some streams until the info comes along). Now the stream is typically not going to iPeng, but to a player so now way iPeng can extract that info itself. Of course it could subscribe to the stream and render it but I would regard that as too resource-heavy an operation.
