Sorry.  If you were asking about Fedora or another RedHat derived
distro, I'd have an answer for you.  But as it stands, I know just
enough about Debian/Ubuntu to be a danger to myself and to others.  It
maybe that gnome-power-manager can be disabled through the Gnome session
manager.  Or not.  But I imagine that the good folks over at the Linux
forum could answer this for you.
