OK, I've posted a new interim 'beta' version at
http://srvrpowerctrl.googlecode.com/svn/SrvrPowerCtrl_20091017.zip
If any of you feel like manually downloading and installing it and
kicking the tires, I'd appreciate any feedback.
Aside from continuing work on the help files to reflect changes due to
the switch from SqueezeCenter to Squeezebox Server, the most interesting
new features are:
==================================================================================
What's new: 20091017
==================================================================================
Support for CLI processing in commands:
Any command line beginning with 'cli://' in the prefs now gets handed
off to SBS's
cli interface rather than being executed as a system command.
Support for custom commands:
The settings page now has 'slots' for up to 4 hd-hoc custom commands
that will show
up on SrvrPowerCtrl's menus. You can specify any menu label and system
or cli
command for each of the 4 'slots'. Additionally, you can specify
multiple
cli commands on the same 'line' by separating them with '&&'.
How is this useful? There are still some SBS functions that you can't
initiate
from the SBC/Touch/SqueezePlay interface, e.g. initiating a database
scan. For
these and other functions, SrvrPowerCtrl now gives you a way to tack
these
functions onto SrvrPowerCtrl's menu. Any system command or script
(that the
squeezeboxserver user has OS permissions to run) or and
straight-forward CLI
command (i.e. ones that don't require a CLI 'conversation') will work
here.
Examples:
Label: Scan for new music
Command: cli://rescan
Label: Scan playlists
Command: cli://rescan playlists
Label: Wipe and rescan
Command: cli://wipecache
Label: Abort scan
Command: cli://abortscan
Label: Play random French Baroque albums
Command:
Code:
--------------------
cli://04:20:00:12:23:45 playlist clear&&04:20:00:12:23:45
randomplaygenreselectall 0&&04:20:00:12:23:45 randomplaychoosegenre
French%20Baroque 1&&04:20:00:12:23:45 randomplay albums
--------------------
Let me know what you think of this.
