Thanks for the reply, I have a denon file from lirc site in the data folder. The app seems to be operating in that the centre button makes 'space invader' type noise!
However the menu structure in the Duet controller shows 'root item 1' root item 2 to submenu ... as per the code in the later part of the xml file. What I can't get my head around is the xml file you give has names of remotes in and 2 lirc files in the data directory. Are these already configured in the xml or do I need to delete all this and just use the Denon lirc file I have downloaded? Basicall all I wish to do is turn the Denon DM37 (remote RC-1097) on from standby and off. Volume up and down (so I can leave the receiver output at 100% and if possible mute. Sorry if I am missong something simple. I can edit the xml and can work out the ir codes (or at least try). It just seems to be getting it together i'm struggling with.
