OK, it's not too difficult (believe me :)). You can pretty much ignore everything in the xml file (as well as the two lirc files) as it's just a sample that I have been using for testing. I'll try and make a smaller sample config that is more useful to people starting out and include that when I have time.
I need the answer to a few questions before I can explain fully what your xml file should look like: 1) which lirc file have you got (I didn't see an RC-1097 on the website)? 2)I presume you're wanting the controller's volume buttons to control your amp instead of the volume on the squeezebox? 3) How do you want the power switching on the amp to work? I tend to use holding the home button but if your amp has seperate codes for on and off then you could set holding the pause button for off and set the play button to send on. That way your amp will turn on and off whenever you start/stop playing. Another option is to have a menu option in the SqueezeIR menu to turn the amp on/off (with other menu items for other stuff if needed). 4) Which of your amp's inputs is your squeezebox on? You may need to send the correct input to the amp at startup. Once I get that info I should be able to knock up an xml file for you in a few minutes. Posts #209-#210 in this thread show a simple xml file for a similar situation if it helps. There is the potential issue that the Denon IR protocol can't be fully expressed by a lirc file and so it won't work (see posts #114-#118 for details).
