I do not know what hardware changes between RS and RS2 but there is a s/w change and the support EXEs used by the application only work with an RS2. The s/w difference is small so although it should not be hard to build a versions of the EXEs for an RS but I cannot test it and if there is an issue it would be hard to debug.
These are cheap devices and most users just plug in them in on a short USB lead next to their "noisy" PC without using an external antenna. In the US I think AM is more crowded and so under these circumstances it suffers.
