I have run into a problem using Custom Browse (v2.10.3030) & Multi
Library (v2.4) in conjunction with Squeezebox Server 7.5.0 and would be
very grateful if anyone could suggest a solution. Squeezebox Server is
running under OS X 10.6.3.
I use Squeezebox Server in conjunction with iTunes. Most of the music
files were ripped from CD, once in Apple Lossless format for listening
on home systems, and once in AAC format for listening on portable
devices. There is a separate playlist for each version of the ripped
files. The playlists for the lossless tracks are in the root of the
iTunes playlist hierarchy whereas the playlists for the compressed
tracks are stored in a sub-folder one level down in the hierarchy. The
iTunes playlist structure is not "seen" by Squeezebox Server. Thus, the
Squeezebox playlist menu simply lists all the iTunes playlists,
including both the lossless and compressed versions for a given CD. The
Squeezebox artist and album menus behave analogously.
I have long used Custom Browse and Multi Library to segregate the
lossless and compressed files. This worked well with many versions of
the server and plug-in software. (Thank you, Erland!) However, I ran
into trouble when I upgraded from v7.3 of Squeezebox Server to v7.5 and
upgraded the plugins to their current revision levels.
I have created three libraries by means of Multi Library, entitled
"all," "compressed," and "lossless." Menus created with Custom Browse
provide album, artist, and playlist sub-menus for the compressed and
lossless tracks. The album and artist sub-menus work as intended.
However, the playlist sub-menus do not. They appear empty when accessed
from a Squeezebox 3, a Transporter, or iPeng running on an iPhone; when
accessed via the web interface, the playlist sub-menus trigger the
message: "No matching songs, albums or artists were found." Note that
Squeezebox Server is able to read the iTunes playlists - they all
appear in the standard playlist menu.
I have appended the contents of the xml files containing the definition
of the lossless library and the Custom Browse album and playlist
sub-menus.
The remedies that I have attempted, without success, include removing
and re-installing the plugins (via the extension downloader),
completely removing Squeezebox Server and all related folders and then
reinstalling, deleting the preference files, and cleaning the cache
folder. I have not yet tried moving forward to the v7.5.1 beta or
rolling back to v7.4.2.
