There is a predefined style that uses a RSS feed with interesting images from Flickr and I believe similar is also possible to setup for Facebook, you just have to create a suitable RSS feed.
It doesn't support any sliding effect when switching the images, it will just switch to the next image directly. If we are talking about screen saver, I would suggest that you create different styles for playing and stopped and instead setup one as "When Stopped" and one as "When Playing" screen saver. You can have cycling items through the visibilitygroup functionality but it will switch the same way independent if it's playing or not.
