I can't remember the details but I think you should be looking for
capture devices not mixer - the mixer is used to combine audio streams
whereas you want to record a source.

Look in /proc/asound/devices for configured capture devices

To test - just get some audio out playing on the output you want - I
usually use mplayer to play a radio stream. Then I usually use Audacity
to capture the audio from the capture device - When recording you can
see sound levels changing.  If the levels are not moving then check
whether you are recording from correct device and whether associated
volume levels are maxed.


Since the sources you want to record are not 44kHz or 48kHz - you may
need to modify the necessary conf file lines to ensure conversion from
24/96 to a format SBS expects.
