As written before: Yes, you can if you still have the old ipa file.
Search this thread for "ipa" for instructions.

However, I still believe this has to do with the OS update, not the
iPeng update, I sometimes see this (not reproducible) with iOS 4.2.1, I
don't see it at all with 4.1.

I have found some rare conditions under which iPeng could theoretically
stay alive, especially if you activate the screen saver quickly after
opening the app (within the first 30s).

Have you tried disabling push notifications???
