Just for fun (and as an FYI) I tested out our DishNetwork ViP922 satellite box, which provides DLNA. It appears not to see any files that are FLACs, but does see and play MP3s.
The box does plays any of the audio files via JRMC (vs. Whitebear), so there is some difference in implementations that allows one to work, but not the other.
