*Re the flickering dos window (on Windows) every 60 seconds:* On
windows, SrvrPowerCtrl gets the network I/O stats by running 'netstat
-e' and then parsing the output. This has the side-effect of briefly
showing that dos window.

Turn the network monitoring off in the SrvrPowerCtrl settings and
you'll stop seeing them.

I agree that it's annoying and otherwise spoils the appearance of
things. Unfortunately, I couldn't find another mechanism to get that
information. When I get some time, I'll write another external windows
utility that will collect the stats without creating that console
window.

BTW, SrvrPowerCtrl uses the same sort of mechanism to collect the
network stats on OSX. But on the mac, it all happens nicely and in the
background without a console window popping up.

Even with network monitoring turned off, SrvrPowerCtrl will still
briefly pop open a console window just once when SBS first starts. In
that case, SrvrPowerCtrl is running 'ipconfig /all' to get the mac
address of the SBS server. I had it in there to provide a mechanism
for iPeng and others to get the server's mac address...a mechanism that
SBS doesn't provide. But iPeng and SqueezePad are now able to do this
by, I assume, querying the arp cache on the iPad/iPhone. This is
totally unnecessary now and I'll remove it from the SrvrPowerCtrl
startup.

*Re things seemed to have fallen apart:* I agree, and I'm reminded of a
famous quote from Jim Hightower: "Where are we going? And what are we
doing in this hand-basket?"

But, to restore order to this little corner of the world, I suggest you
try going to the SrvrPowerCtrl Settings page and click on the "Reset all
settings back to default values" link at the bottom of the page.

Please do let me know if that doesn't do the trick and we'll try to
debug things further.
