Agree. I do some similar backup approaches. And I often remind people
that a good backup regime also requires having complete copies at a
different location, with at least some of these copies "not connected"
to power, etc. (i.e., just stored....we have lots of electrical storms
where I live that can take out all one's electronics in spite of high
quality surge protectors, etc.).  A good backup doesn't help when your
house burns down, is flooded, theft, etc. I have about 70,000 mostly
FLAC files (and I'm halfway through reripping my CDs to FLAC).  I have 8
different complete backups, stored at 3 different physical locations.
