For information, pulseaudio is one of the possible underlying audio system on Ubuntu. The other main one is Alsa. ecasound plays audio through a device name such as hw:1,0 which is an Alsa name but if you are using Pulse audio Alsa is emulated and so there are complications.
In your case, you do not seem to know what you system is setup and so I shall assume Pulseaudio. First, answer the basic questions 1. Are you trying to copy all PC audio to squeezebox ? 2.
