Thanks for looking over the > log and thanks again for a superb plugin! :-) This is definitely a problem with the plugin: too many options and the permutations and combinations of some of the selections can lead to occasionally counter-intuitive results. But please remember that practically each one of these options has been added to SrvrPowerCtrl because of specific user requests. And in the past, when options have become redundant or obsolete, I actually have removed some settings.
I've tried my best to group the options into logical sets and to provide enough help text (hidden behind the (i) icons) to provide explanations for each one. But the shear mass of them is, admittedly, daunting. If anyone has any clever ideas about how to clean up or reorganize the settings page while keeping all the flexibility the plugin currently provides, I'm all ears. Some time ago, I think epoch1970 suggested a tabbed interface to the settings page. While that idea certainly has merit, it's unclear to me if 1). that could potentially further obfuscate the interactions between different groups of options and 2). add significantly to the weight of html, css and javascript "guts" packaged with the plugin. For instance, a quick google of "perl template toolkit tabbed interface" doesn't turn up anything promising. So while the LMS default webUI provides a fairly nice tabbed interface for server options, I'm not enough of a html jock to leverage what's provided in the UI's css to implement "sub-tabs" for SrvrPowerCtrl. I'm guessing that any tabbed interface for my settings page would likely have to be a "roll your own" kind of deal using additional javascript and/or css. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
