I was going to post epoch1970's getalarms_2.pl script from 4 years ago...which I think could do pretty much everything you'd need it to do with some modifications. But I agree with his assessment: SrvrPowerCtrl should be able to do all of that and more if you let it.
If you really, really, really want to let a bash script take care of power management, here's one I wrote last summer for a NAS box I built. That box isn't running LMS so there isn't any squeeze checking stuff taking place.
