I'm trying this out right now. With long lists it's pretty slow, so I'm
not sure it's a workable alternative quite yet. On the client side I'm
using Chrome on Windows 7 Pro x64 on an i5-3750K with 16GB. Server is
running W2k3 Server 32-bit on a dual-core Xeon with 4GB, running the
perl code, not compiled, using ActiveState Perl 5.14.1. My library is
~3100 albums, 37,500 tracks.

BUGS (?):

- The playlist display always remains blank, although songs can be
  added and played.

- Under 'Currently Playing', only the Song tab displays anything, the
rest are blank. On the Song tab, the Artist line is always blank.

- Information under the tabs when browsing into genres, albums, etc.
is often wrong (or seems wrong). It appears to remember/display the
last list shown. For instance, if I browse Albums, click an album,
then go to the Albums tab, it shows a list of albums for the last
artist that I browsed. I would think it should show only the one album
  being browsed.

- The Artists tab in the browse window is always empty.

COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS:

- The interface requires a window that is far too wide in order to
fully display all the player controls. It would be better to scale the
sliders according to window width, rather than hiding buttons.

- There needs to be better way(s) to add music to the current
playlist. Again, requiring a window of a certain width in order to
show the Play/Add buttons is very cumbersome. A right-click context
menu or else hovering buttons might work.

- Under Music Library, I find the drill-down aspect of the user
interface to be somewhat unintuitive, although I do see how it
currently works. Either a 'Back' button or maybe some kind of
breadcrumbs would make it easier and more obvious how to get back
  after drilling into a level.

- It might be helpful if mousing over a string in the browse window
could display a tooltip with the full string, for when the string is
truncated due to the window/column not being wide enough. Some delay
before doing this would be good.

- A 'Play Next' playlist control would be invaluable.

- I can see little use for a track N of M slider. Wouldn't anyone
moving to a certain track in the playlist just use the vertical scroll
bar and then click the track? (I assume that's what you do, since I
  can't see the current playlist.)

- In the Albums lists, I'd prefer that the 'Compilation: Yes/No' line
not be displayed. It just makes the list busier and more difficult to
  read.

- I think most people would prefer album lists sorted by artist to be
  sorted by artist/date/album, not artist/album.

- When browsing Genres, I think most people would prefer to first see
either an album list sorted by artist, or else an artist list, not
  tracks by title.

- In track lists I find the pop-up artwork to be annoying. Perhaps you
could only have it only pop-up when the mouse is hovering over the
album name? Or make the delay time longer before the cover is
  displayed.

- The cover window doesn't need to move relative to the mouse
position. A helpful feature (ala LMS Default web UI) would be to allow
the user to click the cover and have it displayed in its own window.

- I find it difficult to 'grab' a column divider in the browse window
  to resize columns.

- If possible, you should add a browse Album Artists in addition to
Artists. Something sorely missing from LMS.

- As other's have mentioned, the ability to drag-and-drop a
genre/artist/album/track directly into the playlist would be a good
  addition.
