OK, I've got a fix for the performance issue. Submitted to the App Store. The causes were a bit different for the issue on the NowPlaying screen and in the main menus although both are definitely caused by issues in iOS 7. The NowPlaying screen has a problem with buttons being added to the bar at the top while scrolling, I just delay that now which doesn't look as nicely but helps.
The main menu issues were caused by a series of bugs in iOS 7 (I suspect one of them is the fundamental root cause for the others) that essentially meant that when a new page opens instead of just setting the appearance of the buttons at the top the list of all settings so far got added and applied in a sequence which made the App slower and slower over time.
