1.4.5 is what i run on my 1st gen iPod 1 with iOS 3.1.2, it definitely works. It's the App Store versions, it's been years since I had a development environment allowing me to install stuff on these old devices myself.
I don't know how well the App Store copes with these old versions but if you manage to download the 1.4.5 from the App Store it should definitely run under 3.1.3. Does this work with iTunes on a computer?
