No, you'd have to be able to download the App in iTunes and then sync it. I have purchased the App before with the account I used and could not download it. I believe the problem probably is that the old AppStore version on that device isn't able to download the older versions but only the most recent one. Somehow I suspect this AppStore feature doesn't reach back all too far....
