OK i get what your after .

You choose the music as usuall and some sort of plugin should be aware
of that this player (remote iPeng or whatever ) should have the mp3
version of this album .
And the plugin should also hide the double file count so that you dont
see every track and album twice .

Good idea , I see some problems deciding whats really a duplicate in
another format ,tag schemes are not exactly compatible etc maybe a
developer would see it as a challange ?
