Thanks for the reply Jason, Logitec Media Server did indeed find the USB drive without me needing to mount it in Max2play. It had found my files while I was at work - I came home and they had been discovered overnight. Before, I could see the folder where the music was stored but nothing found when I set the path. Maybe I was too impatient.
Early days, but very pleased with the responsiveness of the system compared to Raspberry Pi. Interface is more snappy and songs cue with almost non-existent lag.. I'd still like to understand how to mount the USB drive though, so I can access it remotely from outside the house, not just on local network.
