Just in case someone else comes to this thread as I have done trying to solve the helper app issue.
I had a qnap 412 which spotify worked on and while trying to get it to work on a new 469 I was getting the error. I changed 2 things, don't know which worked. - I selected my counrty - I disabled the Logitech Spotify app which was installed automatically - seems very simple and is probably well covered somewhere else, but just in case..........
