Slighly Of topic don't trust LMS/SBS volume even for real hardware squeezebox players treat it like any other source component and expect it to be full volume . People driving power amps directly or active speakers uses internal or external attenuators to have reasonable gain = 100% squeezebox volume is as loud as you ever want to go .
AV receiver may have facilities to preset gain for inputs . This is a part of a more general problem most amps have to much gain any source component at 2.0V would drive it into protection or fry the speakers . Sometimes it is to make the product apear powerfull you don't have to turn the volume knob much to get massive volume . And some user can have a 1970 tape deck with 0.1V output . If the amp has a volume controll set it to some reasonable level that makes 100% squeezebox volume reasonable so that you use the upper range of the volume control , this also makes the best soundquality . If you read this forum , you sometimes find a lot of complains that the squeezebox is not loud enough , people don't understand this at all......( They want to play at 11 like in spinal tap ). You can use replay gain tags ! This usually lowers the volume by aproximately 10dB with popular music to make headroom for volume adjustments to accommodate different levels in tracks , (this is a source of the above complaints ) Btw does this add on support replay gain ? And finally thier is a long standing bug with squeezeboxes/LMS That no one have ever tracked down . A Squeezbox can sudenly give very loud burst of >100% volume usually very distorted , but it is so rare that it goes several years between incidents and most users never had it soo MTBF can be >100 years :). Maybe this is more common with SB3 or transporter never had a Touch doing this . -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
