I started ripping to FLAC about 15 years ago and have tried various rippers over the years. EAC was the first ripper I tried I think. Though I have tried a number of rippers I settled on dBPA a long time ago and have stayed with it due to it's feature set and flexibility. I use Vortexbox but don't really like the default ripper. The VB default settings may need to be changed using the command line to get what you want. It's not hard if you are OK with making changes in Linux, but it still doesn't have the features offered by dBPA. Managing the tags is perhaps the most critical element in getting your library set up and functioning the way you want it. I find it easiest to do this in dBPA.
