Thanks bonze. That sounds like a good idea - if I could access the
Library folder. I used the Terminal in OS X to view hidden files and yes
the library folder in my user folder shows up but is greyed out so I
can't access the contents.

Aargh!

I haven't tried installing ffmpeg yet and am still wondering whether to
wait until Triode or bpa produce a more polished plugin that can be
installed easily in one go.
