As long as router has a firewall - securty issues will be normal PC ones
- security is not compromised by running LMS. Using sb.com with Radio
has not resulted in any security problems.

In terms of energy etc. - you do not need a whole PC to run LMS. For
example, you can set up a boxed Raspberry Pi with Squeezeplug ( a
pre-built system for a Pi with LMS and other media players) for about
stg£50. There are a lot of Pi users so plenty of help available.

The MP3 streams are what they are. Other users have complained about
their stability.

Am a bit wary of installing Triode's applet because: a. The link was not
on the post at the beginning of the thread on here, where the post was
describing it; and b. I am not sure how to. Can I do that through the
SB.com web interface for players?[
Applets are only applicable to SB Radio and SB Touch. It is a bit confusing
but Applets are NOT installed through the SB.com and so there will be no
links to the Applet given on any post.

To install the Applet you only use your SB Radio - read all the instructions
below and then decide if you want to install the applet. BBC are committed
to stopping the RTMP format the Applet uses and there is no guarantee the
Applet may be updated so a better longer term solution is to set up a LMS
(e.g. on a Raspberry Pi) - put the effort into setting up LMS. LMS will
provide a single solution for your SB players and SB radios.

1. On the Radio - do NOT go near the My Apps menu.
2. Go to the menu "Settings" first - then scroll down to the bottom and then
select "Advanced" and then scroll down to "Applet Installer"
3. After the Applet (not an App) is installed - go to top menu and then go
to Radio. Under Radio menu - There should now be a "BBC Radio" menu item.

Unfortunately Triode has not updated the Applet so you then need to replace
files on the Radio to get the Applet to work with changes BBC made in Feb
2015.
