I've got plenty of EINTR events in my log using player.source debug logging on my Linux system - and I don't have any problems. They occur a couple of times per second. Maybe they occur much earlier and at a more crucial time with psketch's cloud server. It is interesting that he says he has the same problem with Linux on the Cloud VM as well though. So probably not a windows specific problem... I can't look now, but psketch, can you post logs of the same problem on the Ubuntu version please - non-working non-uk Live stream and working On Demand stream. A log with both the bbciplayer hls and player.source debug logging at the same time is probably the most help (and most confusing!).
