It's definitely not normal to get this kind of bad performance if you run LMS on decent hardware. When you run LMS on a NAS you can expect to get these kind of performance issues because some NAS boxes just have too little memory and CPU to handle some of the more advanced queries used by my plugins. However, Michael did an experimental plugin that made it possible to run the "vacuum" command towards the LMS database, possibly this could help.
