Sorry for the late reply, I've been extremely busy during last months
and due to this I haven't visit this forum as frequent as previously.
Don't be afraid to send me a mail with a link to the relevant post if
you don't get a response here, just in case I've missed a thread where
you asked a question in.

Regarding your question, they are not related to albumjivepattern.

The intention with pathtype and pathtypedata is to handle the breadcrumb
navigation path at the top of the web interface in the cases where you
handle custom objects not supported by LMS as standard. As an example,
if you wouldn't have the pathtype/pathtypedata in the "Decades" menu, it
would mean that navigating into "Decades/1990s" it would at the top
navigation links above the list of albums show "Decades / Albums" but
with pathtype/pathtypedata you can change the "Albums" part to instead
show "1990s". pathtype/pathtypedata is not needed for menus that handles
standard objects such as artists, playlists, genres but they are needed
as soon as data which isn't supported by standard LMS is to be
displayed. Of course, their only purpose is to produce a better text on
the navigation links on the top of the web interface, so if you don't
care about this you don't have to use them at all.

The only supported values for pathtype is:
- sql: Which means that it will use the SQL statement in pathtypedata to
render suitable text strings
- none: Which means that no navigation link will be added to the
breadcrumb when moving into a menu
