Volume: There is play progression but no output. Nothing appears on the
Onkyo display.

Almost there but not quite. First a bit about the Onkyo itself.

It's manual states that it will support 24/192 FLACs - I don't have any
to test with only 24/96.

Via its native DLNA client it will play all my files as FLACs or MP3 as
the case may be. Critically it will play the 24/96 FLACs and correctly
reports them as same (there is a Display option in certain modes).

Via its USB input and using Pippin's iPeng player on my iPhone it will
also play everything but there is no report on what is actually being
played in this mode.

Via sq2u it doesn't like FLACs but instead plays 16/44 FLACs as PCM -
the profile has pcm, flc, mp3 - MP3s are also OK. In this mode it won't
play 24/96 FLACs at all. It skips to the next track. The max sampling
rate is 96000. I would have expected LMS to transcode the FLAC to PCM as
it does with 16/44 but obviously haven't got the settings for 24Bit
quite right.

Playing as PCM the Onkyo displays metadata as you would expect.

If I swap the profile order to be flc, pcm, mp3 - it won't play FLACs at
all. Which is strange as the Onkyo clearly supports FLAC.

Occasionally if I add a track - Play Next in iPeng terms - it throws a
wobbly. I suspect to do with pre-caching.
If the Onkyo fails to play a track for some reason it then needs to a
power off reboot to get it to respond again (that's probably what you
saw in the logs Phillipe).
