So just to be clear: what you are playing on the player has been played using Albums or something, not browsing folders, right?
iPeng requests unscaled artwork for the NowPlaying screen, I don't know what SqueezePad does but LMS had some issues with that until a few weeks ago when Michael fixed some things. That said, that particular issue should have a workaround in iPeng 9.0.2, too. In any case iPeng needs to access the unscaled artwork and unfortunately that also means the server then adds that to it's artwork cache which means that database can grow very large if you've got large artwork. If it's corrupted at some point the server can hang while trying to access it. The issue in LMS 7.9 Michael recently fixed was that the server _first_ added the artwork to the cache and then read it from the cache before returning it to iPeng, a process that can take long enough to time out.
