A persistent BBC problem before christmas was "long response time" packets. From my monitomring of R4 - averaging about once an hour but worse around 10.00am and between 5.00pm and 7.00pm http GETs took longer than 2 secs to get reponse from BBC and less frequently there were reponse time between 20 secs and 2 mins. A little monitoring of R3 had similar long respponse time packets but peaked at different times. Most users have DASH timeout set up to 3 secs so breaks would occur (typically "cannot resolve ip ". Three possibilities come to mind but more are possible. 1. Nothing has changed - lnetwork oad has lightened over Christmas and is not yet back to "normal" - probably not until schools are back. 2. BBC had planned more capacity for 2016 and it has started to come online 3. Web attack has resulted in more capacity and resilience.
