Ok, I will run with 1000ms from now on, on a "real" hw platform (32-bit debian 8 i686) rather than a saggy VM. (last week I tried w/ 50ms and 3000ms. 50 didn't go far, 3000 was ok but in a sync group with an SB3 the player could not recover from a desync.)
Another fun fact: yesterday I was running an all-airplay show with the Airport Express and the Loop in a group. The Loop was running solid for hours, and the AE dropped from the group from time to time. Right now I am listening to an SB3 synched to the Loop. And the Loop has dropped (@ 500ms). To me, it's either bad luck or it was evicted from the nest by the SB3...
