You did copy the full URL and not the displayed one with the ellipsis i.e. *http://www.abc.net.au/res/streaming/audio/aac/news_radio.pls* The URL not recognised is a strange error - can you get a log of the stream being parsed - it seems there is something odd If you are in fact playing the same URL then it seems your DAC cannot handle the 48kHz stream from LMS and so it is a general isseus and not one specific to the BBC or DASH plugin.
