I just read that The Echonest API will no longer work as of May 31 2016,
with everything run from then through the Spotify API.

Does this mean the end of the Smart Mix plugin?
Yep, seems they put the final nail in the coffin :-(. When they
announced integration of the service in to Spotify I knew this might be
the end. I'm only surprised how quickly it happened. Long before even a
fraction of the old functionality is available through the Spotify API.
Crap. I don't know yet how to replace SmartMix in my own setup. I really
became used to it :-).
Enjoy while it lasts. Six more weeks to go?
