I'm sorry but your logic makes no sense and I think you may also have a
misunderstanding about how Squeezebox controllers work. Squeezebox
controllers do not make a direct connection with the players, only to
the server. All commands are sent to the server which then sends
commands to the players. Disabling "Always connected" means that the app
disconnects from the server when it goes into the background. When the
app is disconnected from the server it literally can do nothing, it
cannot know if a player is playing or not. Since it can do nothing,
there is no need to keep the app alive.

When the app connects to a server, it will try to connect to the last
used player. When you enabled Default Player, you are telling the app to
override that behavior and always choose a particular player.

To get the behavior you want, just turn off "Default Player", as I
mentioned in a previous reply.
