Well, having a tiny image with lots of blank space also doesn't look very good, and it's really a matter of opinion which looks better. I prefer stretching to fill the space. A compromise would be to limit the amount of stretching that could be done. However, that's not a built in feature of Windows apps and would have to done manually. Since we're dealing with scaling in 2 dimensions, the math is also not straight forward (eg. what are the resulting dimensions of a 134x156 image at 200% that maintain the same aspect ratio). Of course, it's nothing I can't find thru Google, but it just seems like a lot of code for something that's pretty minor.
